Anti-Termite Treatment in Sri Lanka

Termites, often referred to as ‘white-ants,’ are soft-bodied insects ranging from 4 to 11mm in length. Their relentless foraging behavior drives them to seek food constantly, allowing them to infiltrate properties and furniture through gaps as small as a business card’s width. Given Sri Lanka’s tropical climate and high humidity, which create ideal conditions for termite proliferation, effective termite control is essential for property owners.

Importance of Termite Inspections

A comprehensive inspection of your property is vital before tackling any termite infestation. This process identifies the termite species present and assesses the severity of the infestation. Based on the inspection results, we provide tailored recommendations and treatment options designed to address your specific situation. Our termite control services in Sri Lanka aim to eliminate active termites and implement preventive measures to avoid future infestations.

Our team of highly trained professionals ensures that every step, from inspection to treatment and prevention, is carried out with utmost professionalism and efficiency. Additionally, we offer ant exterminator services to handle any ant infestations promptly.

Identifying Termites

There are over 3,000 species of termites globally, with more than 40 species found in Sri Lanka. Despite their diversity, termites share similar characteristics. They typically measure between 4 to 15 millimeters in length and have soft bodies with straight antennae. The queens and kings are larger, growing up to 3 centimeters long. Their color ranges from white to light orange or brown, with worker termites being lighter and swarming termites darker. Reproductive termites, which have wings, are distinguished by their two pairs of small wings.

Methods of Termite Treatment

Pre-Installed Chemical Recharging System (Advanced Anti-Termite Reticulation System)

This advanced system consists of a network of chemical-resistant, polyethylene (LLDPE) tubes equipped with ‘pressure compensated’ chemical emitters spaced evenly along the tube. These emitters release anti-termite chemicals into the soil, creating a consistent chemical barrier against termite entry points. The tubes are installed under the ground floor slab, along vulnerable construction joints, expansion gaps, and the building’s perimeter. Recharging outlets are strategically placed for easy maintenance.

This system should be recharged every 4-5 years to maintain chemical efficiency and ensure long-term protection against subterranean termites. This eco-friendly solution is a viable alternative following the ban on long-lasting organochlorine termiticides like DDT, Aldrin, and Dieldrin. Unlike short-lived chemicals such as Bifenthrin, which lose effectiveness after about five years in tropical conditions, this system offers sustainable protection.

Liquid Barrier Treatment

  • Drilling is performed along the wall joints of tiled, cemented, concrete, or terrazzo floors at 3-5 feet intervals. Termiticides are then pressure-injected into the soil beneath the floor slab.
  • Drilling along exterior walls at 3-5 feet intervals allows termiticides to be injected into the soil, creating an effective chemical barrier around the building’s foundation.

Termite Bait Stations

The Anti-Termite Baiting System includes both above-ground and in-ground components that use specially formulated bait to attract termites. This bait contains an advanced insect growth regulator that quickly eliminates subterranean termite infestations. It is easy to install, eco-friendly, and does not require drilling.

The bait stations attract termites, even when other food sources are available on the premises. The special ingredient in the bait is carried back to the colony, spreading throughout and eventually reaching the queen and king, effectively disrupting the entire colony.

Our expert team is dedicated to providing the highest level of service, ensuring effective and sustainable termite control solutions for properties across Sri Lanka.
